What are your chances of seeing a white Christmas?
AccuWeather’s Damien Lodes breaks down the odds of each part of the country seeing a white Christmas.
If you plan on getting a workout on Christmas, you may want to listen up.
The best way to make sure you will be able to lift some weights, run on the treadmill or take a Zumba class on the merriest of holidays is by figuring out when your gym will be open, or if it’ll be open at all.
Some gyms may be closed completely, while others may offer members the ability to get a workout in during adjusted hours. Banks, retail stores, restaurant chains and even post offices tend to close or adopt limited hours in honor of Christmas Day.
Here’s what you need to know about the hours of operations for major fitness facilities, including Planet Fitness, Gold’s Gym and YMCA, and whether or not they will be open on Christmas Day this year.
Christmas Day falls on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
No, LA Fitness will not be open on Christmas Day.
Operations will resume normally at all facilities on Thursday, Dec. 26.
24-Hour Fitness locations, in general, will follow a routine schedule on major holidays, including Christmas Day.
Your 24-Hour Fitness location will likely be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, but will re-open on Thursday, Dec. 26 at its usual time or 5 a.m. for the 24/7 club. Make sure to double check the hours of your facility before you head over.
A “big thing for us during this time is the ability to bring someone in via a buddy pass in an existing membership or sign up for a full year BOGO, getting an entire membership/workout buddy/accountability partner for free for 2025,” 24-Hour Fitness said in a statement. “Holidays are about spending time together and that definitely includes the gym!”
The easiest way to find out if your local Planet Fitness will be on open on Christmas Day is by searching for your location and verifying the hours posted here.
All Planet Fitness locations are independently owned and operated by individual franchise owners, so hours may vary by location.
“At Planet Fitness, we believe it’s important to stay active during the holiday season and with the PF Black Card you can bring a family member or friend with you for free and enjoy a workout together before your holiday gathering,” Planet Fitness said in a statement.
All Life Time locations will be closed on Christmas Day, but will reopen at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26.
“No matter where people are or what their schedules look like this holiday season, the free Life Time app can help them stay healthy,” the health club chain said in a statement. “Featuring livestream and on-demand workouts that people can use at a time that’s convenient for them, the app is available to anyone, not just Life Time members.”
Contact your local Y to find out if, or what modified hours the Fitness Center at your local Y will offer on Christmas Day.
All Gold’s Gym hours will vary by location, so check with your local gym for specific hours or a change in hours, the gym franchiser said in a statement to USA TODAY on Tuesday.
