The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team looks for its first conference win against the SMU Mustangs. The Orange host SMU in the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York at 10:30 a.m. ET on Thursday, Jan. 9.

The Orange are one of four winless teams in ACC play (0-3) thus far. They sit in last due to their 6-8 record, making them the only team in the conference that’s below .500. Syracuse’s three conference losses have come to No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 13 Georgia Tech and Florida State, who is just outside the top-25 rankings.

The Mustangs are 1-2 in conference play and 9-6 for the season. They lost to Florida State and No. 24 California while beating Stanford, who is also winless in ACC matchups. SMU won four straight before the Golden Bears won by 15 Sunday, the largest loss of the Mustangs’ season thus far.

Senior Georgia Woolley leads the Orange in scoring with 14.9 points per game. Syracuse’s most recent game against the Seminoles was her worst of the season, scoring 12 points despite shooting 2-of-16 (12.5%) from the field. SMU has one of the nation’s best scorers in Nya Robertson. Robertson is in her first season with the Mustangs after spending her first two years with George Washington. She’s averaging 20.3 points this season.
