SAN FRANCISCO – The league-leading Cleveland Cavaliers are in the Bay to battle Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors today – Monday, Dec. 30 – at Chase Center in San Francisco, California. The game is available to watch on multiple streaming services for free.

Riding a six-game winning streak, the Cavs (27-4) continue to surge forward with their historic season. Their only losses are twice against the Atlanta Hawks, once against the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics and once against the Miami Heat.
Cleveland holds a one game lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder for the best record in the NBA. They are 4.5 games ahead of the Celtics and a tout a 10.5 game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks in the Central Division.
The Cavs are coming off a 149-135 throttling of the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 27, taking the season series against three-time MVP Nikola Jokic and Co.
Cleveland dropped a season-high 40 assists in that avalanche. They are fifth in the league in that category, dishing 28.9 per game.
Cleveland obliterated the Warriors in their previous meeting on Nov. 8, torching the Dubs for 83 points in the first half enroute to a lopsided victory. They claimed a franchise record 41-point halftime lead.
First-year head coach Kenny Atkinson’s Cavs lead the league in field goal percentage (50.6%), 3-point percentage (40.9%) and offensive rating (121.7). The Cavs are also second in points per game (122.7) and net rating with a plus-11.4.
Tonight’s contest will be a homecoming for Atkinson, who spent three years as an assistant to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. Kerr, like the rest of the league, is in awe at what Atkinson has been able to accomplish in his short time with Cleveland.
Cleveland is led by franchise centerpiece Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging 23.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 45.7% from the field, including 41.2% from beyond the arc. Point guard Darius Garland chimes in with 20.6 points, 6.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds while shooting 49.6% from the field, including 43.6% from beyond the arc.
The frontcourt is one of the best in the business as fourth-year power forward Evan Mobley is averaging 18.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 57.4% from the field, which is the 10th-highest percentage in the league. Mobley is also firing at a 43.7% clip from beyond the arc.
Center Jarrett Allen is averaging a double-double with 13.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 68.7% from the field, which is the second-highest percentage in the league. His importance remains a focal point of Cleveland’s mesmerizing start.
Despite its size inside, Cleveland is averaging 43.4 rebounds per game, which is 20th in the league. That could pose a significant weakness against a Golden State unit that is third in the league with 47.1 rebounds per game.
The reserves remain a steady threat from all angles. Leading the second unit is sixth man Caris LeVert. He is averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds while averaging 52% from the field.
Backup shooting guard Ty Jerome has also continued his piercing play, tallying 10.3 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 50.9% from the field.
While not as formidable as years past, Cleveland’s defense has clamped down at times in key moments this season. They are allowing 111 points per game, which is 11th in the league.
The Cavs are 10-3 on the road this season with a point differential of plus-12.

After a sizzling start when they first encountered Cleveland’s stunning ascent, the Warriors (16-15) are in the midst of a tailspin.
They have lost seven of their last 10 games and have plummeted to ninth place in the Western Conference standings. They are however only two games out of a log-jammed Pacific Division race.
Golden State delivered a marquee victory over Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 28.
Curry remains the main star of Golden State’s dwindling dynasty. The point guard is averaging 22.5 points, 6.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds while shooting 44.2% from the field, including 40.6% from beyond the arc.
He was held to 12 points, including 1-of-4 from deep in the first meeting this season. In 24 games of his career, Curry is averaging 26.3 points, 6.0 assists and 4.3 rebounds against the Cavs.
The Warriors’ core isn’t full of the dynastic star power of years past, but they can still do some damage.
Power forward Jonathan Kuminga has particularly excelled in this campaign. He is averaging 16.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 45.5% from the field.
Small forward Andrew Wiggins is averaging 16.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field.
Point guard Dennis Schroeder is averaging 16.4 points, 6.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 42.5% from the field.
Power forward Draymond Green provides his versatile peskiness with 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists while shooting 42.8% from the field.
In a Twilight Zone-like turn of events from recent years, it’s Golden State that is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, while the Cavs are the ones predicated on a prolific pace and efficient offense.
The Warriors boast the ninth-best defense in the league, including holding the opposition to 34.5% from beyond the arc. Cleveland hit 20 3-pointers and shot 47.6% from deep in the first meeting.
