STARKVILLE — The February signing day is approaching, an opportunity for college football teams to put the finishing touches on their 2025 recruiting classes.
For Mississippi State, it’s the first full cycle for coach Jeff Lebby as he enters his second season. The Bulldogs went 2-10 in 2024 without an SEC win.
Here’s where the Bulldogs stand entering the Feb. 5 signing day.
MSU ranks No. 26 in the 2025 recruiting class as of Tuesday, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. That’s up three spots from the 2024 recruiting class. It would be Mississippi State’s highest-ranked class since 2022 if it stays at No. 26. MSU hasn’t signed a top-20 class since 2015.
The Bulldogs’ class is ranked 13th out of 16 in the SEC ahead of Arkansas, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
It’s expected to be a quiet day for Mississippi State, as it is with most teams. The February signing day has less significance than before with more prospects opting to sign in December. That way they can enroll in January and practice with the team for an extra semester.
Mississippi State has one commit who didn’t sign in December: three-star wide receiver Ferzell Shepard. The Louisiana native has been committed to MSU since June.
The Bulldogs have signed 27 players to the 2025 recruiting class. Eleven of them are from junior college.
The class is highlighted by four four-stars: linebacker Tyler Lockhart, quarterback KaMario Taylor, edge rusher Tyshun Willis and cornerback Kyle Johnson.
