The first voting returns came in about a week ago, and Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who had so often led all players in his conference in voting, came in third among Western Conference frontcourt players. His co-superstar Anthony Davis was fourth in that voting return.

The second voting returns were revealed on Thursday, and while James is still at third among Western Conference frontcourt players, the San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama pushed past Davis to claim the fourth spot.

It is somewhat understandable that James has slipped a bit in All-Star balloting. While he remains a legitimate superstar, his scoring average has fallen somewhat over the last couple of years, partly due to having a little more offensive support around him. He is also picking his spots a little more than he did a few years ago in an effort to conserve his energy.
