The struggled with unranked SEC opponents continued for the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, and they lost to Texas 82-78. The loss lowered their record against non-ranked conference foes to 1-4, a strange occurrence considering their success against ranked teams this year.
The loss to Texas also dropped Kentucky in the new USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. They’ve now fallen multiple weeks in a row, and this week, are outside the top 20. The Wildcats dropped three spots to number 21, to be exact.
Kentucky is now the seventh highest rated SEC team. Eight are ranked altogether, with another receiving votes. Five SEC teams are ranked in the top ten, with three in the top five.
The Auburn Tigers are at the top after beating the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. The Florida Gators are up to number two, and the Tide dropped just a few spots to number four. The Tennessee Volunteers and Texas A&M Aggies are the other teams in the top ten.
