With six Big Ten games remaining in the regular season, Ohio State sits firmly in the middle of the league’s men’s basketball standings.
On Thursday night, the Buckeyes took care of visiting Washington with a 93-69 home win against the Huskies. Micah Parrish and John Mobley Jr. each had 21 points to lead an Ohio State offense that shot 58.2% from the floor and 61.1% from 3-point range while building a lead as high as 30 points.
On Sunday, the Buckeyes will host No. 20 Michigan in their fifth chance to climb above .500 in the league standings.
Here’s where Ohio State sits in the Big Ten standings entering the weekend:
With the win against Washington, Ohio State improved to 15-10 overall and 7-7 in the Big Ten. That .500 record in conference play has the Buckeyes alone in eighth place in the league standings.
Ohio State is 4.5 games behind first-place Michigan, which is 11-2 and will visit Value City Arena on Sunday for the only meeting between the teams this season. It will mean the return of former Ohio State guard Roddy Gayle, who received death threat after transferring to Michigan during the offseason.
One other Big Ten team also has seven losses: USC is 6-7.
Ohio State is amid a three-game homestand, its longest in Big Ten play this season. After beating Washington on Wednesday night and hosting No. 20 Michigan on Sunday, the Buckeyes will play Northwestern at Value City Arena on Feb. 20 before then going out west to play UCLA and USC in their first Los Angeles trip of the newly expanded Big Ten.
The bottom three teams in the league will not qualify for the Big Ten Tournament, which will be held March 12-16 in Indianapolis. At No. 8, the Buckeyes would currently avoid the first two days of the five-day event.
