Since being thrust into the Boston Celtics hot seat, Joe Mazzulla has proven himself to be one of the best coaches in the NBA. His out-of-the-box thinking and unique approach to management helped lead the franchise to an NBA championship last season. Under Mazzulla, Boston is one of the best offensive and defensive teams in the league, playing selfless basketball with a fierce will.
Due to the Celtics‘ success and the way Mazzulla managed a group full of stars, the Boston head coach has quickly earned respect from fans around the world. However, he still has a way to go if he wants to be viewed as one of the best coaches in the NBA. Right now, that crown belongs to Erik Spoelstra and Gregg Popovich, two coaches with exceptional longevity and track records of success.
In a recent episode of CLNS Media’s “Big 3” podcast, hosts A. Sherrod Blakely, Gary Washburn and Kwani Lunis debated where Mazzulla ranks within the pantheon of current NBA coaches, and how he can continue climbing that ladder in the upcoming season and years to come.
