The annual NBA general manager survey is here. We will break down their reactions to key topics from the Phoenix Suns‘ point of view entering the 2024-25 season.
During this exercise, 50 different questions were asked for the decision-makers around the league to address. Let’s dive into it.

This is the first one that draws everyone’s interest from a team standpoint. This has Phoenix finished one spot higher than last season when they came in as the 6th seed. The Suns were 2nd in last year’s poll behind Denver.
This seems fair from the outside looking in. Do I think Phoenix could finish higher? Of course. After getting swept a year ago they need to “prove it” this year, so I will not be going to bat for them on this ranking. Five is fine. The Western Conference is stacked and they need to prove to us they belong at the top.
Who is the best shooting guard in the NBA?
Very interesting… that’s all I’ll say on this one. Devin Booker finished first last season with 63% of the votes.
Who is the best small forward in the NBA?
Tatum finished 1st here with Luka, LeBron, and Durant tied in 2nd at 17%.
Who is the best power forward in the NBA?
Kevin Durant finished 2nd (7%) behind Giannis (77%) in this one.
Who is the most versatile player in the NBA?
Kevin Durant finished tied for 3rd here with Jayson Tatum.
Which player would you want taking a shot with the game on the line?
Durant also finished second here. Surprisingly, Devin Booker did not receive any votes.
The Suns did not receive any votes for MVP, breakout seasons, or which offensive player forces the opposing coaches to make the most adjustments.
Which new or relocated head coach will make the biggest impact on his new team?
1. Mike Budenholzer, Phoenix – 40%
Coach Bud also received votes for the best coach in the NBA along with finishing first in the biggest impact on his new team.
Which active player will make the best head coach someday?
Bradley Beal and Tyus Jones each received votes on this one.
Which team is the most fun to watch?
The Phoenix Suns received votes as one of the most fun teams to watch this season.
Which team will have the league’s most efficient offense this season?
Phoenix received votes for this one as well, finishing in the top 6.
Which team’s level of success this season is toughest to predict?
The Suns finished 4th here at 10% under only the Lakers, Pelicans and Rockets.
Overall there wasn’t a ton of love for the Suns on this one, but that’s likely due to the poor taste they left in everyone’s mouth a season ago. They got swept, it’s understandable.
That being said, Durant and Budenholzer both did get some serious recognition here. I hope Devin Booker reads this to add some fuel to the fire.
