The Slovenia international, who injured his calf during the match against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 25, has already missed 19 games this season and is not among the candidates for individual awards at the end of the season, with the newly incited rule by the National Basketball Association. Prior to the news on Saturday night, Doncic didn’t travel with the Mavericks and was going to miss their three-game road trip against the Cavs, 76ers and Celtics.
The one-month recovery period ends just before the mid-season break at the beginning of February. Counting those two weeks out of play will allow Luka and the Mavs to better prepare for the second half of the season.
In his 22 appearances for the Dallas team this season, Doncic totaled 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.4 steals per contest.
Why? Why did the Mavericks trade their young star for 31-year-old Anthony Davis? Some say it’s about the Slovenian’s diet and conditioning. Others say it’s the player’s injury problems.
Social media is going crazy with this move that nobody saw coming. Basketball reporters, NBA stars and fans are all trying to figure out why the trade happened and only the Mavericks’ owners know why the did what they did. Now the next question is: when will Doncic and LeBron share the same jersey and play together for the Lakers?
