Black Friday isn’t here yet, but many stores have already started their biggest sales of the year before the holiday shopping officially kicks off at the end of November.
Major retailers like Walmart and Target are offering discounts on toys, electronics, appliances and Christmas décor ahead of Thanksgiving when some stores will be closed.
Here are the early sales and store hours for Thanksgiving and Black Friday that Hoosiers should know about.
Friday, Nov. 29 is when Black Friday happens this year.
Walmart stores will close for Thanksgiving and be open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday. Online Sales for the store began at 4 p.m. CST on Nov. 11. The in-store early sale will be from Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17.
Target stores will close on Thanksgiving and open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
The retailer announced it would offer almost two months straight of deals for customers beginning Nov. 1 and ending Dec. 24. Each day will have a “Deal of the Day” offer for Target Circle members.
Both Home Depot and Lowe’s will be closed for Thanksgiving and will re-open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
Lowe’s has not announced specific dates for its Black Friday sales, but many of its larger items are already discounted ahead of the holidays. Home Depot began its Black Friday sales on Nov. 6, and they will continue through Dec. 4
Ace Hardware stores are independently owned and operated, so hours vary by location. The company did say majority of the stores would close for Thanksgiving.
Costco stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and will open from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Black Friday. Costco has online and instore Black Friday deals leading up to the holiday that began on Nov. 1.
Kohl’s announced it would close stores for Thanksgiving and open them at 5 a.m. for Black Friday.
The store will have its “Black Friday Week” from Nov. 24 to 29. All customers can take 15% off qualifying purchases and can earn $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent through the week.
TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and HomeGoods will close on Thanksgiving and open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday.
As these stores offer savings year-round, they tend to keep their Black Friday sales to the holiday.
JCPenney stores will open at 5a.m. on Black Friday. The stores will close on Thanksgiving.
In 2023, Black Friday sales went from Nov. 22 to Dec. 1, so it is possible the store will have another weeklong sale event.
Belk stores will close on Thanksgiving and open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Black Friday. Belk will have its Black Friday Sale from Nov. 22 to Nov. 30.
Bass Pro Shops will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. It will also open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday and close at 9 p.m.
The store is hosting it’s “Holiday Head Start” sale now through Nov. 24.
REI will close its stores on both Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
Barnes & Nobles locations will close on Thanksgiving and have amended hours for the holidays. The store has not released specific dates for an early Black Friday sale.
IKEA will be closed on Thanksgiving and open on Black Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The store has not released specific dates for an early Black Friday sale.
Tractor Supply Co. stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday. The store has not released specific dates for an early Black Friday sale.
Both PetCo and PetSmart will be closed on Thanksgiving.
PetSmart stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday, while PetCo stores will open at 8 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
PetSmart is offering early deals through Nov. 17. PetCo has not released specific dates for an early Black Friday sale.
Staples stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and open at 9 a.m. on Black Friday. There is an early holiday sale going on now. The store has not said when it will end.
Both Office Depot and OfficeMax will be closed on Thanksgiving but will be open regular hours on Black Friday.
The stores have not released specific dates for an early Black Friday sale.
