Wheatland senior Brecken Sandlian has an opportunity to play golf at the next level after he signed at Central Wyoming College. Sandlian was a four-year varsity letter-winner in golf at Wheatland High School. He helped the Bulldogs win the Class 3A team championship last fall in Rawlins. Sandlian took third place in the 2024 3A state championships at the Rochelle Ranch Golf Course. He fired rounds of 82 and 76 for a two-round total of 158. Brecken earned his first all-state award in his career.
Sandlian tied for 24th place at the 2023 3A state championships with a total of 172. Wheatland finished third as a team. In his sophomore year in 2022, Sandlian tied for 20th at 176. As a freshman in 2021, Brecken tied for 31st place at 192.
He also played basketball at WHS.
CWC plays both in the fall and spring. The championships in Region IX are in the spring. Mike Neuman is the Rustlers’ head coach. He is the second Bulldog golfer to sign with the CWC program, joining teammate Isaac CdeBaca.
