Two of the perennial powers in college basketball meet on Friday night, with No. 17 Arizona welcoming in No. 12 Duke.
The Blue Devils (3-1) continue their early-season gauntlet with a trip west. So far, a highly-touted roster — headlined by the top-ranked recruiting class — has shown plenty of promise.
Cooper Flagg, the consensus No. 1 recruit, is averaging 16.3 points and 9.5 rebounds through four games. In Duke’s lone loss against then-No. 19 Kentucky, Flagg poured in 26 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Blue Devils in both categories.
The Wildcats (2-1) are set to take the court for the first time in a week, after losing to Wisconsin last Friday, 103-88. Offense certainly hasn’t been a problem for Arizona, which is averaging 94 points per game through three contests.
Fifth-year guard Caleb Love anchors a talented roster. Love, who averaged 18 points per game last season, struggled in Friday’s loss; he scored just six points on 2-of-13 from the field.
This marks the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Arizona holding a 6-4 edge. The Wildcats won last year in Cameron Indoor Stadium, 78-73.
