The wild-card round of the NFL playoffs will once again be a more gradual affair with six games spread across five broadcast partners over three days. The actions begins with two AFC matchups Saturday featuring two famous brothers, two familiar division rivals and a reigning MVP and rookie of the year seeking redemption.
Jim Harbaugh returns to the venue in which he won a college football national championship with Michigan one year ago (Houston’s NRG Stadium) after orchestrating a remarkable one-season turnaround as coach of the Los Angeles Chargers (11-6). He’ll face the Houston Texans (10-7) in the late afternoon game to begin the playoffs. The Texans are AFC South champions for the second year in a row, but enter the postseason as underdogs following a bumpier-than-expected sophomore campaign by last year’s rookie of the year, quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson, meanwhile, gets another chance to overcome some of his postseason demons after perhaps the best regular season of his career with the Baltimore Ravens (12-5). A familiar AFC North rival – the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-7) – stands in the way. This will be the 38th career meeting between Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and Ravens coach John Harbaugh, but just the fourth time they’ve coached against one another in the NFL playoffs. Tomlin holds a 21-16 edge over Harbaugh all-time, including 2-1 in the playoffs.
Here’s how to watch both games on what should be an exciting Saturday to start the NFL playoffs:
