Minnesota currently has 21 high school commits, and when you look at early enrollees specifically, the Gophers will have seven signees on campus in January. Here they are.

Laguna Beach (Calif.) junior quarterback Jackson Kollock initially committed to the University of Washington, but when Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama, the signal-caller opened his recruitment back up. And Gophers Greg Harbaugh swooped back in and got his quarterback for the 2025 class.
Here’s some of what 247 analyst Greg Biggins said about why 247Sports gave him an “89” grade.
“Kollock is one of our favorite quarterbacks out West and is currently rated a high-end three-star with an “89” rating,” Biggins detailed. “We’ve had a chance to see him in multiple settings recently including the Under Armour Next Camp over the weekend and the SoCal Elite 11 Camp earlier in the month. He’s a big, strong kid with a live arm and is far from just a pure-pocket guy. He’s a multi-sport track athlete and has some functional athleticism in his game to go along with the ability to get the ball accurately deep down the field.
He’s comfortable throwing outside the pocket and can make plays off script with his legs when a play breaks down. He’s throwing with a lot of confidence right now and we like where his game is trending.”
Shipp missed his entire junior season with a knee injury just before September, but was able to stay healthy for the duration of his senior season, and the film was very promising. He’s got a great frame at 6-5+ with plus length and he’s light on his feet.
247Sports’ West Coast analyst Greg Biggins also has his evaluation.
“Shipp is one of the more intriguing offensive lineman out West.
For starters, he’s a true tackle and those are always hard to find. I had a chance to see him at Centennial’s College Showcase back in May and had no clue who he was since he missed not just his entire junior season but his sophomore year as well due to injuries. He has a long, athletic 6-6 270 pound frame with an 80+ wingspan and plenty of room to grow and add good weight.
He can move really well, both laterally and getting to the second level and has a nice edge in his game. The Huskies are known for annually developing not just talented offensive linemen but kids who play angry and Shipp has some nastiness in his game. He’ll be able to play on either side of the offensive line and with his frame, fluidity and natural athleticism.”
If you built a Brian Callahan prototypical right tackle in a lab, he’d look like Mark Handy. The tape matches that as you watch it as he works at left tackle for his high school team, and he’s a mauler. If Handy gets his hands on you, you’re not going anywhere he doesn’t want to move you to. He’s also a standout heavyweight wrestler, as he went 28-0 over the winter and won the state title.
Worst case if right tackle doesn’t work out, he can easily slide inside.
Fond du Lac (Wis.) defender Rhett Hlavacka spent most of the spring working out for colleges hoping for his first power-four opportunity. After a junior season that saw the Fond du Lac native earn first-team all-conference honors after a 110-tackle season with double digits tackles for loss, offers came in from places like Memphis, Northern Illinois and Ohio, among others. Still, he had to earn his Big Ten chance at Minnesota’s camp over the summer.
He displayed elite athleticism for a guy 6-4 and 235 lbs, including a 10′ broad jump.
Midwest analyst Allen Trieu has been a fan for some time.
“I’ve felt this kid was under the radar ever since the fall. He’s been a three-star for a long time on 247. I wondered why more schools weren’t recruiting him. He’s added weight now and has grown into an EDGE, which is what we thought would happen given his frame. This is a nice sleeper take and he’s a guy who could rise as a senior, especially if we see more of him rushing the passer off the edge and if he moves at 235 the way he did at a lighter weight last year.”
He’ll transition to the defensive line at Minnesota, and more than likely, it’ll be defensive end. He’s got the frame to add more weight, but taking a chance on a kid with that athleticism at 6-4 makes a lot of sense to me. My guess is he’ll start his career at rush end.
After a junior season in which he was just starting football and learning how to play defensive line, Gophers defensive end commit Enoch Atewogbola took a big step forward as a senior. His season came to an end, but not after he put up 17 tackles with a sack as a junior. His stats jumped in 2024 as he finished with 50+ tackles, 10 tackles for loss, eight passes defended at the line, seven sacks, and two fumble recoveries.
247Sports National Analyst Hudson Standish details why Atewogbola recently got a bump to an “88” rating.
“It’s been the year of the edge rusher in the Hoosier State and Atewogbola is one of the more intriguing prospects we’ve come across. Verified a shade over 6-foot-3 with a nearly 6-foot-10 wingspan, the high three-star prospect has only been playing football for a few years and showcased marked improvement as a senior. Atewogbola will need plenty of technical refinement but has the upside to develop into an NFL draft pick.”
PJ Fleck and the Gophers signed the #1 player in the state of Minnesota in Robbinsdale Cooper defender Emmanuel Karmo. The Twin Cities native had a top seven of Oregon, Wisconsin, Penn State, Nebraska, Ohio State, USC and Minnesota before this commitment. I expect Karmo to start his career as a rush end, with former Cooper defender Jaxon Howard.
247Sports National Analyst Hudson Standish details why Atewogbola recently got a bump to a “90” four-star rating.
“The new four-star prospect has some of the best two-way senior tape of any player across the Midwest. Karmo has displayed both on-ball and off-ball versatility and could shine early in his career on third downs.”
Parrish is listed as an athlete on 247Sports but is projected to make his impact at the college level as a corner. He shows excellent ball skills and coverage while being a heavy hitter. He and his teammates won the state championship in all four years of high school, and Parrish leaves Bergan Catholic as the all-time leader in interceptions with 15.
With starting corners Ethan Robinson and Justin Walley out of eligibility, Parrish will have every opportunity to make an impact beginning in January.
