Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy’s interactive golf league arena almost ready
1,500-seat SoFi Center nearing completion for TGL interactive golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, January 7 opening in Palm Beach Gardens
The Match is in the rearview mirror, as is The Match: Superstars. But there’s another highly anticipated golf event taking place today: the Crypto.com Showdown, a two-on-two clash between tournament rivals PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
Yes, TNT’s made-for-TV is back with a new name and format, pitting four of golf’s biggest names in a Ryder Cup-style tournament for league bragging rights. And it’s got the perfect choices for it: Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will represent the PGA, while Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau will pair up for LIV Golf.
McIlroy has been vocal for years about his disdain for the upstart LIV Golf, founded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. That fervor has dissipated of late, but the matchup and the extravagant prize purse promises to provide a spectacle nonetheless. The world No. 1, Scheffler dominated the PGA Tour this year with seven wins, including his second Masters title. DeChambeau won the U.S. Open and finished second at the PGA Championship.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Crypto.com Showdown, including time, TV and streaming info and more:
The Crypto.com Showdown starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday. It will broadcast nationally on TNT, TBS and truTV. Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley will call the match, with others contributing. Streaming options for the game include Max and Sling.
The Crypto.com Showdown will be played at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas. That’s the site of the first iteration of The Match back in 2018, when Phil Mickelson defeated Tiger Woods.
The Crypto.com Showdown will pit two players from the PGA Tour against two from rival league LIV Golf:
The teams will compete in a condensed Ryder Cup-style event over 18 holes. The first six holes will be best-ball play, in which each golfer plays his own ball and the lowest score counts for the team. Holes 7-12 will be foursome play, where the players alternate shots on the same ball. The final six holes will be singles play.
The purse for the Crypto.com Showdown is $10 million in CRO cryptocurrency, Front Office Sports reported. It’s unclear how much will go to the winners.
For comparison, Rory McIlroy won $2.4 million for charity after winning The Match in February at The Park in West Palm Beach over Max Homa, Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang, according to ESPN.
