Eagles look like team to beat in NFC, Bills beat Lions in potential SB preview
Mackenzie Salmon breaks down the top storylines from Week 15 in the NFL.
Sports Seriously
The Giants (2-12, last in NFC East) tied a franchise record with a ninth consecutive loss in a 35-14 defeat versus the Ravens, with more planes continuing to fly overhead pregame pleading for Giants co-owner John Mara to fix this current mess.
Now, the G-Men head on the road to face the Falcons (7-7, 2nd in NFC South), who in the middle of a playoff push have decided to make the switch at QB, by benching four-time Pro Bowler Kirk Cousins in favor of No. 8 overall pick Michael Penix Jr. amid Cousins’ struggles the past five weeks.
Both these teams enter this contest desperate for complete opposite reasons.
Big Blue is in a tight battle with the fellow 2-12 Raiders for who will land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
On the flip side, the Falcons sit only one game back of the Buccaneers — who they’ve swept the season series against — for the division lead in the NFC South and the No. 3 spot in the NFC playoff picture.
Regardless of their records, this is a crucial game for both organizations moving forward given the massive implications it has for the rest of this season with the Falcons and the offseason for the Giants.

Falcons 27, Giants 13: Yes, the Falcons barely were able to hold on to beat a lowly Raiders team on Monday night. They’re also on a short week and have benched QB Kirk Cousins (1:9 TD-to-INT ratio over his last five games) in favor of No. 8 overall pick Michael Penix Jr. Still, even in Penix’s debut, Atlanta should have minimal issues against a Giants defense that has surrendered 26 or more points in six of their previous eight contests leading up to this one.
After facing a slew of talented defensive units (Broncos, Chargers and Vikings) since Week 11, the Falcons put together their best effort in quite some time in a wire-to-wire victory back at home to give the G-Men a new franchise record of 10 consecutive losses.
Odds: Falcons by 8.5 points
Over/Under: 41.5 points
Moneyline: Saints (-450), Giants (+350)
