NFL Week 17 picks: Why you should consider Lions, Panthers and Colts
Lorenzo Reyes is back with his three best bets ahead of Week 17 games. Find out why he likes the Lions, Panthers and Colts to cover the spread.
When the NFL put the schedule together before the season, it clearly saved the best matchup for the final Monday Night Football game of the year, an NFC Championship rematch between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers.
Detroit has lived up to all billing, as it is 13-2 and looking to sew up a No. 1 seed and the bye and home field that comes with it. San Francisco has been a major disappointment with the post-Super Bowl-loss hangover that has led to a 6-9 record and elimination from the postseason.
San Francisco is still a dangerous team and Detroit has been dealing with a rash of defensive injuries. Still, the Lions are a 3 1/2-point road favorite to wrap up the No. 1 seed.
The NFL’s Week 17 Monday Night Football game, the last one of the year, pits the Detroit Lions against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.
The Lions at 49ers game will be televised nationally on ABC and ESPN and streamed on ESPN+.
The Saints at Packers game is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. MT/7:15 p.m. CT.
Joe Buck (play-by-play) and Troy Aikman (analyst) will call the game from the booth at Levi’s Stadium, while Lisa Salters will be on the sidelines.

Receiver Kalif Raymond isd out with an injured foot. End Aiden Hutchinson, cornerback Khalil Dorsey and defensive tackle Alim McNeil continue to be out indefinitely.
Offensive linemen Spencer Burford (calf) and Aaron Banks (knee) are out, as are linebacker Dre Greenlaw (Achilles) and defensive lineman Robert Beal Jr. Safety Ji’Ayir Brown (ankle), offensive lineman Colton McKivitz (knee)linebacker Tatum Bethune (knee) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (personal) are questionable.

Sportsnaut: Lions 27, 49ers 17
Matt Johnson writes: “While the Detroit Lions are banged-up, the NFL schedule worked out nicely for them with some winnable games versus bad teams in December. The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been able to stop the run all season and Kyle Shanahan’s offense is one-dimensional because of all the injuries at running back. San Francisco will have some explosive plays against the Lions defense, but Detroit should be in control of this one for all four quarters.”
