BATON ROUGE – The LSU women’s basketball team finding ways to pull out games in crunch time is starting to become a regular thing.
The latest example was Thursday night in Rocky Top when LSU’s Kailyn Gilbert flipped up an acrobatic last-second shot that went in to lift the Tigers to their third straight win at Tennessee, 89-87. Gilbert hit a game-winning layup against Washington earlier this season, while LSU also closed a deficit to force overtime before pulling away for a win against Stanford.
The No. 4 Tigers (18-0, 3-0 SEC) remained undefeated with the win over the Lady Vols. And now they’ll host a solid Vanderbilt squad that boasts one of the SEC’s best scorers in guard Mikayla Blakes.
Vandy (14-3, 1-2) is coming into the matchup at LSU off a unexpected 28-point loss at Ole Miss where it struggled to scored all game. Blakes scored 19 points but the team had 22 turnovers and 29 total rebounds against the Rebels.
LSU versus Vanderbilt will be broadcast live on SEC Network from Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge. Streaming options for the game include the ESPN app (with a cable login) and Fubo, which offers a free trial to potential subscribers.
