The carrier has been named the “World’s Best Airline” by Skytrax eight times – something no other carrier has been able to achieve. The oldest aircraft in Qatar Airways’ fleet is the Airbus A330. According to data from ch-aviation, Qatar’s Airbus A330-300, registered A7-AED, is 19.26 years old, and is the only passenger aircraft in the carrier’s fleet that is over 19 years of age. Planespotters.net noted that Qatar received this aircraft in August 2005.
At the time of writing, the last flight conducted by A7-AED took place between Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) and Doha Hamad International Airport(DOH). According to FlightRadar 24, some of the airports where this aircraft has conducted flights from Doha airport in October are the following:
Three A330-300s operated by Qatar Airways are roughly the same age: the ones registered A7-AEE, A7-AEF, and A7-AEG, are 18.91, 18.78, and 18.68 years old, respectively.
Apart from the Airbus A330-300s, a couple of Airbus A330-200s operated by Qatar, which are currently stored, are over 18 years old. Some of the Airbus A330-200s that are currently in service are approximately 17.5 years old.
A couple of Airbus A320s operated by Qatar are close to fifteen years old. These two are registered A7-AHA and A7-AHB, and are 14.98 and 14.94 years old, respectively. The Airbus A320 is the smallest aircraft operated by Qatar. This 132-seater plane comprises 12 flat-bed business seats in a 2-2 configuration while the remaining 120 economy class seats are configured 3-3.
Qatar has eight Airbus A380s. These have an average age of 8.9 years. These aircraft fly from Doha to the following destinations:
All aircraft in Qatar’s fleet over 17 years of age are from the Airbus family. However, the carrier has a couple of Boeing aircraft that are quite close to that age range. Let’s take a look at them in detail:
