SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN, Ariz.—Baylor women’s golf returns from a nearly four-month break when they tee it up at the Match in the Desert on Monday morning at Superstition Mountain Golf Club.
Entering the spring at No. 27, the Bears will see three more top-25 teams in the 18-hole shootout in the Arizona desert. Head coach
Jay Goble looks forward to seeing his team get back into competition mode against good teams before the spring cranks up early next month.
“Superstition Mountain is a great golf course that does a great job of promoting the women’s game and amateur golf as a whole,” he said. “We have had a chance to play a few different golf courses in the area this weekend, so it’s a good opportunity to knock some rust off and get ready for our championship season.”
BaiMai Seema begins her final semester in Waco at the No. 1 spot for the Bears. The senior is coming off a fall season that included her career-best finish, a third at the White Sands Invitational in October.
Silje Ohma will play at No. 2, aiming to build on a fall semester that saw her begin to regain her All-American form with a win at the Waco River Classic in early September.
At No. 3,
Ashleen Kaur makes her return to Superstition Mountain Golf Club after shooting a 69 to finish tied for sixth last year. The sophomore put together her best performance of the season against the strongest field of the season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, where she tied for sixth in September.
Bridget Boczar will get the nod at No. 4, bringing her steady veteran presence to the lineup. The junior carded her best finish of the season in her last start, a tie for 24
th at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate.
Newcomer
Malena Castro will round out the lineup at No. 5. The General Pico, Argentina, native joined the team at the semester after a decorated junior career. This past November, Castro finished tied for 21st at the Women’s Amateur Latin America.
Jenny Lee will play as an individual on Monday. The freshman flashed in her first semester, which was highlighted by a tie for second at the Waco River Classic.
Tee times will begin at 10 a.m. CT on Monday morning. A full listing of those times, live scores and stats will be available on
