Forbidden Kingdom, whose only start this year was in April, has been working in California for trainer Richard Mandella.
The 5-year-old son of American Pharoah worked five furlongs in 1:00.2 Wednesday morning at Del Mar, the fastest of eight works at the distance.
Winner of three graded stakes, Forbidden Kingdom finished 2023 with a victory in the Grade 2 Joe Hernandez. He returned in April with a seventh-place finish in the listed Kona Gold at Santa Anita. He returned to the tab in August and has steadily increased his distance through five drills.
Forbidden Kingdom was one of four graded-stakes winners with published works on Wednesday, and six others worked Tuesday.

It was the fastest of nine works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed third in the Smart N Fancy going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 23 for trainer Christophe Clement.
Happy American (Runhappy), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Louisiana), worked four furlongs in 52.2 seconds at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the 26th fastest of 30 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed third in the R.A. Cowboy Jones going one mile on the main track at Ellis Park on Aug. 11 for trainer Neil Pessin.
Masqueparade (Upstart), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Ohio Derby), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Belmont Park on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of 42 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed second in the Birdstone going 1 3/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 4 for trainer Rob Atras.

Vanderbilt Handicap (G1) going six furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on July 27 for trainer Wesley Ward.
