Kate last engaged in events for a state visit when South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon Hee visited the U.K. in November 2023. The occasion marked one of the last times that Kate has publicly worn a tiara; at the time, she paired her Jenny Packham gown with the Strathmore Rose Tiara, a floral diadem that hadn’t been worn by a royal since the Queen Mother in the 1930s.

Kate has made few public appearances since she announced the end of her chemotherapy treatment in September. “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus,” Kate explained in a video message at the time. “Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

Soon after the Amir’s visit, Kate is expected to make yet another public appearance for a cherished holiday tradition: her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey. This year’s “Together at Christmas” program will take place on Friday, December 6.

“This year’s service provides a moment to reflect upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives,” the palace said in a statement. “The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities.”
