WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW women’s basketball looks to return to the win column as they host Campbell in the CAA opener this Friday at 7 p.m. in Trask Coliseum for the Faculty and Staff appreciation game. UNCW ended the non-conference slate with an 84-68 loss to Longwood at home on Sunday. Taylor Henderson flirted with a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in 29 minutes. Henderson posted her first double-double of the season and tied her season-high in assists in the contest. One of the nation’s best in total free throw attempts on the season, Henderson finished the game shooting 8-of-10 from the foul line. She is currently 23rd in the country with 83 free throw attempts.
Against Longwood, Evan Miller scored 15 points and reached 100 career three-pointers. With 9:43 left in the second quarter, Miller achieved the milestone by knocking down a wide-open shot at the top of the key off a Tia Dobson assist. Miller was 6-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Miller has made 101 three-pointers in her career and needs three more to tie for ninth all-time in program history. She ranks ninth in three-point field goals attempted.
Ali Zelaya continues to be among the nation’s best in defensive rebounds per game and blocked shots. Zelaya leads the CAA with 117 rebounds and 29 blocks. She ranks 13th in the nation with 7.8 defensive rebounds per game and 14th in blocks. Zelaya rounds out the top 20 with 2.2 blocks per game.
Jania Hall is nearing 900 career points, needing just 21. Hall leads the team in minutes per game (27.9) and assists per game (three).

Campbell is back in the win column after defeating Bethune-Cookman in Buies Creek, 64-50, to remain unbeaten at home. Campbell outscored the Wildcats in the fourth quarter, 20-7. Gianni Boone scored a team-high 14 points and leads the team with 11 points per game. Gemma Núñez and Ciara Alexander each added 12 points and five rebounds. Núñez leads the CAA in assists per game (5.1) and steals (28). Núñez has dished out 10 assists twice in games vs. High Point and Miami. Nationally, Campbell is just outside the top-50 in three-pointers attempted per game (24.5). Senior forward Courtney Dahlquist leads Campbell with 22 three-pointers . The Fighting Camels are still searching for their first road victory of the season.
