The opening kickoff of an Iowa high school football game is exciting, but in the game between Johnston and Southeast Polk on Friday took it to another level.
Johnston football surprised SEP, and even the camera operator, by utilizing a trick play that worked to perfection. The Dragons faked a reverse handoff after receiving the kick, which allowed senior receiver Vincent Peterson to run freely down the left sideline all the way to the end zone to go up, 7-0, early in that contest. That’s Peterson’s first kickoff return for a score this season.
