The Washington Huskies filled one of their final needs in the transfer portal on Wednesday evening when former Penn State wide receiver Omari Evans announced his intentions to spend his final season on Montlake.
Following the acquisition and dismissal of former five-star recruit Johntay Cook from the portal, coach Jedd Fisch moved quickly to fill the spot and invited Evans in on an official visit shortly after Penn State’s loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl.
Evans, who tallied 21 catches for 415 yards and 5 touchdowns during his junior year with the Nittany Lions, is a perfect addition to Washington’s wide receivers room, which was in desperate need of a veteran presence at the position for quarterback Demond Williams Jr. in 2025.
Outside of junior Denzel Boston, the rest of the Huskies’ wide receivers have tallied 22 catches for 297 yards combined. The position is chock-full of youth and upside, but adding Evans, who started for coach James Franklin’s team in 2024 to the group should be the perfect addition to the group.
