Less than three weeks after he committed to coach Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies out of the transfer portal, former five-star prospect and one-time Texas Longhorns wide receiver has been dismissed from the program.
According to a report by Dawgman.com’s Scott Eklund, Fisch and the wide receiver made a decision to “part ways” shortly after the start of winter workouts.
Cook, who spent two years with the Longhorns, was expected to be an important part of Washington’s supporting cast around rising star quarterback Demond Williams Jr., who will now have to rely on younger options with seniors Giles Jackson and Jeremiah Hunter graduating.
In place of the top end talent, wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings will presumably utilize former Arizona transfer Kevin Green Jr. and sophomore Rashid Williams in larger roles during spring practice. Cook’s departure also signals that the coaching staff will hit the portal once again during the spring period to pursue some veteran help for Williams.
