The Golden State Warriors’ title window may close if they don’t shake things up on the trade market. 

The Warriors would likely have to relinquish a respected 6-foot-7 forward and NBA champion to achieve their desired result.

“While (Andrew) Wiggins is only 29 years old, it seems like he’s been in the league for 15+ years from his time with the Cavaliers, Timberwolves, and now Warriors,” the Wrightway Sports Network’s Alamedad wrote Wednesday.

“Golden State seriously needs to push their chips to the center to try competing one final time with Steph Curry, and Wiggins should be one of the pieces that they agree to part with, along with Jonathan Kuminga.”

Before joining the Warriors in 2020, Wiggins was a solid pro with untapped potential. 

The Kansas product has always been an athletic freak with a decisive offensive approach, but he was known for playing uninspired basketball and struggling to find his touch from beyond the arc. 

Wiggins has looked like a different player in the Bay, resisting the urge to take plays off and becoming a respectable long-range shooter under Steve Kerr. 

Wiggins averaged 17.2 points per contest on 46.6% field goal shooting and 39.3% three-point shooting during the Warriors’ magical 2021-22 championship season. 

While Stephen Curry leads the way for the Warriors this season, Wiggins is the organization’s second-leading scorer, netting 17.4 points per game on an underachieving Golden State squad. 

Still, it’s fair to say Wiggins isn’t a high-profile superstar capable of drastically raising the Warriors’ ceiling in the present.

A big-time scorer like Zach LaVine would undoubtedly change Golden State’s season outlook and help silence the franchise’s doubters.

With Kerr’s crew running out of time to complete a groundbreaking deal, though, Wiggins will likely stay put this season.
