Warren Central’s boys’ golf team finished its season with a few solid individual rounds and a top-five team finish at the MAIS Class 6A Championships this week.
Sophomore Oden Henderson and senior Evan Farrell tied for 14th place, both with a two-round total of 165 at the tournament held Monday and Tuesday at Mallard Pointe Golf Course in Sardis. Jackson Lafferty also squeezed into the top 20, with a tournament score of 169 that was good for 19th place.
Caden House shot 182 and finished in a tie for 43rd place, Cooper Jamison was 50th with a score of 187, and Davis Farrell 69th with a score of 212.
Warren Central finished in fifth place in the team standings, out of 12 teams, with a score of 681.
Hancock ran away with the team championship with a score of 623. Saltillo was second, with a score of 639, and then Pearl River Central (645), George County (664) and Warren Central rounded out the top five.
Hancock senior Logan Jensen was the individual Class 6A champion, with a score of 145. He shot a 67 in the first day that gave him a six-shot lead and stood as the only round of the tournament under 70.
South Panola sophomore John Braxton Jones was second, at 150, and Saltillo’s Landon Nelms third at 151.
