Last year’s top candidates for player of the year honors for boys basketball were three players now playing Division I boys basketball: Winter Haven’s Isaac Celiscars (Yale) and Jamie Phillips Jr. (Stetson) and Victory Chistian’s LJ Cason (Michigan).
This year’s senior class doesn’t have three Division-I prospects but there is a deep pool of candidates for top honors from senior Tate Darner to freshman Quinton Wilson.

Troy Boswell, Winter Haven: Averaging 22.3 points and 8.8 rebounds.
Jaylen Crossley, Bartow: Averaging 16.8 points.
Tate Darner, Santa Fe Catholic: Averaging 20.6 points, 4.8 rebounds.
Gavin Hall, Winter Haven: Averaging 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds.
DJ Howard, Lakeland Christian: Averaging 17.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 steals.
Eddy Hyppolyte, Haines City: Averaging 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.9 steals.
Tucker Fox, Victory Christian: Averaging 16.0 points.
Ethan Knox, Santa Fe Catholic: Averaging 14.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Darius Livingston, Discovery: Averaging 16.9 points.
MJ McCalla, Victory Christian: Averaging 15.5 ppg
Jeremy Nixon, Discovery: Averaging 15.7 points and 4.7 rebounds.
Omari Russell, Fort Meade: Averaging 16.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.3 steals.
