Last year’s top candidates for player of the year honors for boys basketball were three players now playing Division I boys basketball: Winter Haven’s Isaac Celiscars (Yale) and Jamie Phillips Jr. (Stetson) and Victory Chistian’s LJ Cason (Michigan).
This year’s senior class doesn’t have three Division-I prospects but there is a deep pool of candidates for top honors from senior Tate Darner to freshman Quinton Wilson.

Ethan Knox, Santa Fe Catholic: Averaging 14.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.
Darius Livingston, Discovery: Averaging 16.9 points.
MJ McCalla, Victory Christian: Averaging 15.5 ppg
Jeremy Nixon, Discovery: Averaging 15.7 points and 4.7 rebounds.
Omari Russell, Fort Meade: Averaging 16.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.3 steals.
