Each week we post a Player of the Week poll and a Team of the Week poll. Here’s how to vote, share and see the winners.
After another action-packed week of the high school boys basketball season, it’s time to look back on the best performances and vote for the best one.
Read about the players who stood out last week and let us know who you think should be the North Jersey Player of the Week in the poll at the bottom of this page.
Voting closes at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Weehawken senior
Ayala guided the streaking Indians (9-0) to a 3-0 week and surpassed 1,000 career points. He averaged 17.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals in wins over Rutherford, Harrison and North Arlington.
Cliffside Park sophomore
Calabrese led the Red Raiders (6-2) to a 3-0 week to stretch their winning streak to five games. He averaged 22.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.0 steals in wins over Ridgefield Park, Clifton and Passaic Charter.
Lyndhurst junior
Chaname drove the Golden Bears (6-6) to a season-turning 4-0 week. He averaged 20.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in victories over Newark Central, North Arlington, Secaucus and Harrison.
Wayne Valley sophomore
Derstine towered and powered the Indians (7-3) to a 3-0 week. He averaged 18.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in victories over Passaic County rivals DePaul and Lakeland, as well as Ramsey.
Ridgefield senior
Marasciulo led the Royals (9-2) to a 4-0 week and surpassed 1,000 career points. He averaged 16.3 points, 16.3 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 5.3 steals in wins over New Milford, Bogota, Leonia and Saddle Brook.
Saddle River Day senior
Neuenhaus led the Rebels (6-4) to a 4-0 week to extend their winning streak to five games. He averaged 24.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 blocks in wins over Midland Park, Waldwick, Emerson and DePaul.
Pascack Hills senior
Polsky spearheaded the Broncos (6-1) to a 3-0 week to extend their winning streak to six games. He averaged 24.3 points, eight rebounds and four steals in victories over Mahwah, Indian Hills and Passaic.
Becton senior
Rozon, who Jan. 3 reached 1,000 career points, led the Wildcats (5-5) to a 3-0 week. He averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 steals in wins over Wallington, Wood-Ridge and Bergen Charter.
