BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – A Virginia Tech football player has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
Jordan Bass is charged with DWI (drugs) and a civil violation for possession of marijuana, according to court records. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Bass, a Virginia Beach native, committed to the Hokies earlier this month. He previously played linebacker for the University of Pittsburgh.
Bass was released on bail after being arrested by Blacksburg Police on Jan. 19th, court records show. His arraignment is scheduled for early February.
An athletics spokesperson released the following statement to WDBJ7:
“Virginia Tech is aware of an incident involving football student-athlete Jordan Bass. As this is a legal matter, we will abide by university policy and have no further comment until the process is complete.”
