Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats exploded in anger to draw a technical foul during the Crimson Tide’s road game at Missouri on Wednesday night, destroying a clipboard that he uses to draw up plays during timeouts.
The technical foul occurred with Missouri leading 42-28 with 5:14 remaining in the first half. Pieces of the board shattered and scattered as the Tigers continued to build a big early lead.
The technical foul marked the first one for Oats this season. His last technical came 28 games ago during the second half of Alabama’s NCAA Tournament win over Grand Canyon last March.
Missouri opened the game with a 12-0 run and forced Oats to call a timeout less than three minutes into the game, but his message didn’t take, as the Crimson Tide’s defense allowed open shot after open shot.
Alabama entered play at 21-4 and 10-2 in SEC action, having just lost a home game to rival Auburn on Saturday.
