In a social media post, Gonzales said at Monday’s City Council Budget, Finance, and Economic Development Meeting, councilmembers learned of the latest plan to build a long-coming shopping and lifestyle center, located on Mall View Road near Highway 178.
Gonzales said residents can expect a layout similar to the Shops at Riverwalk. A tentative opening is expected in late 2026, according to the post.
He said he pushed City Hall to find more efficient ways to take control of Mall View Road, a current private road, to improve traffic flow and safety between Mount Vernon Avenue and Oswell Street.
Plans to develop shopping and eateries in the area date back to 2017.
Tenants in the shopping area are pending. More details are yet to be announced.
