For the fourth straight month, unemployment has dropped in Vermilion County. The county’s numbers show the unemployment rate falling from 6.2% in October to 5.9% in November. Vermilion County’s rate was at 5.3% in November of 2024.
For the City of Danville, the unemployment rate also had a positive change, after the slightly negative bounce from last month’s report. Danville’s rate fell from 7.6% in October to 7.3% in November. Danville’s rate stood at 6.6% in November of last year.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment has deceased by 400 jobs, when comparing Novmeber of 2023 to November of 2024. Looking at specific categories; Private Education and Health Services jobs were up by 100, while Transportation – Warehousing – and Utilities were also up by 100. That was countered by Manufacturing jobs being down by 500, and Government being down by 100.
There were no changes in Leisure and Hospitality, Mining and Construction, Professional Business Services, Retail Trade, Wholesale Trade and Financial Services, and in the “Other Services” category.
