DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – The University of Wisconsin Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics announced the addition of three sports to its current athletic offerings.
The first varsity sport they will add is NCAA women’s lacrosse.
UWS will also add a pair of club sports: men’s ice hockey and men’s soccer.
Those two club sports are set to make their debut come the 2025-2026 season.
“We are thrilled to expand our offerings to provide more, and new, opportunities for student athletes,” said UWS Director of Athletics Nick Bursik. “Expanding these programs appeals to the interest we receive from prospective students and the growing participation of these sports within our region.”
Women’s lacrosse will debut their inaugural season the following year in the 2026-2027 season.
These three additions bring 20 total varsity sports to UWS.
Searches for the two club sports coaches will begin right away, while a national search for a women’s lacrosse head coach is set to launch this spring.
