Women’s Golf
REEDSBURG, Wis.–University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has the lead following the first round of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Golf Championship (presented by Culver’s) at Reedsburg Country Club on Oct. 4.
The Warhawks, who have won seven straight championships, compiled 315 strokes during the first round on the Par 72 layout. UW-Oshkosh is second with 320 strokes, UW-Stout third with 322, UW-La Crosse fourth with 329, UW-Platteville fifth with 330, UW-River Falls sixth with 344, UW-Eau Claire seventh with 348 and UW-Stevens Point eighth with 356.
UW-Stout’s Julia Imai owns the individual lead in the 76-player field with 72 strokes. UW-Oshkosh’s Ava Downie and UW-Whitewater’s Payton Schmidt are tied for second with 76, while UW-Whitewater’s Ellie Johnson is fourth with 77. UW-La Crosse’s Sophie Denure and UW-Oshkosh’s Sydney Bornhorst are tied for fifth with 78, while UW-La Crosse’s Allie McBryde, UW-Platteville’s Taylor Swalve and UW-Whitewater’s Hayden Myers are tied for seventh with 80. UW-La Crosse’s Grace Ellison and UW-Oshkosh’s Chloe Strunk round out the top 10 with 81 strokes.
The team winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship that will be held May 13-16, 2025, at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
The 54-hole championship will resume Oct. 5, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
