By defeating Frances Tiafoe, Taylor Fritz became the first American man to reach a Grand Slam men’s singles final since 2009.
On Sunday, he’ll aim to break one more long drought: No American man has won a major final since 2003, when Andy Roddick won on these same courts.
Fritz will face top seed Jannik Sinner, who has breezed through competition to advance to his second grand slam final of the year.
Here’s everything you need to know about Sunday’s final.

Taylor Fritz erased a two-set to one deficit to reach his first Grand Slam final.
Down the stretch, the No. 11 seed was able to outlast his opponent, who, following the fourth set, felt a sudden wave of fatigue.
In the final, the 26-year-old American will face the hardest task in all of men’s tennis.
Jannik Sinner has won 33 of 35 matches on the hard-court surface this year, including hoisting his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open and winning two ATP Maters 1000 hard-court tournaments (Miami Open, Cincinnati Open).
An American crowd eager to see a champion for the first time since 2003 will motivate Fritz, but it’s unclear if this will have a significant impact.
The top-seeded Italian is performing significantly better right now, and in order for Fritz to stay in this match, he’ll have to rise to the physical occasion and avoid playing defense.
Fritz may grab a set, but Sinner should be able to win his second Grand Slam title of the year, continuing his hard-court dominance in 2024.
