The 2024 tennis season concludes with the US Open, starting on August 26, as defending champions Coco Gauff and Novak Djokovic will compete to retain their titles.
Djokovic, 37, and Qinwen Zheng, 21, arrive as Olympic gold medalists from the Paris 2024 Games, while Carlos Alcaraz, 21, and Barbora Krejcikova, 28, claimed victory in the earlier major of the season at Wimbledon.
Djokovic has 24 Grand Slam singles titles — the most in tennis history — surpassing both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The Serbian has achieved a Career Grand Slam, winning each of the four major tournaments at least once.
Djokovic has held the world No. 1 ranking in the ATP singles for a record number of weeks and has completed a double Career Grand Slam, winning each major at least twice. He is known for his incredible consistency, mental toughness, and versatile playing style. His rivalry with Federer and Nadal, collectively known as the “Big Three,” has defined an era of tennis.
Gauff gained global attention with her remarkable performance at Wimbledon 2019, making the fourth round at just 15 years old. She won her first Grand Slam singles title at the 2023 US Open.
The Atlanta native is known for her powerful game, athleticism, and strong work ethic. Her career is marked by rapid ascension through the ranks, solid performances in major tournaments, and a promising future in tennis.
The 2024 US Open will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. For those preferring to stream, ESPN+ offers live coverage.
