WEST END, Ohio (WKRC) – The 19th Annual Cincinnati Mayor’s Career Expo is set to take place on Saturday, February 15, offering a valuable opportunity for job seekers to connect with a wide range of employers.
Hosted by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, the City of Cincinnati, and CincySHRM, the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TQL Stadium, located at 1501 Central Parkway.
More than 40 employers, including Cincinnati Recreation Commission, Cincinnati Parks, Cincinnati Police & Fire, UC Health, Children’s Hospital, and Kroger, will be present at the expo. The event aims to provide seasonal, part-time, and full-time job opportunities for people aged 14 to 24.
“It’s more than just a job fair. It’s a gateway to opportunities for kids. Some folks are looking for their first job, some for their next job, and some to get back on their feet. But we do have positions for everyone, and it’s a great spot to come down. You’ll have city departments. We have Cincinnati Recreation. It’ll be recruiting out of there. Of course, we’re always looking for lifeguards and center staff,” Cincinnati Recreation Commission Senior Management Analyst Chris Pike said.
Local 12 asked Pike what people should expect when they arrive at the event.
“When they come down to TQL, they’ll check in; they can speak with any of the representatives from the city parks Cincinnati Recreation Commission. There are 40 other vendors who will be there from Kings Island to Graeter’s, Kroger, TriHealth, and UC. So, there’s a lot of variety in employers and different jobs, and ideally, we want them to find something that is comfortable for them, something that they’re interested in, gets them engaged, and wants to get their first, a great experience in their first taste of being a part of the workforce. And create memories throughout the summer,” Pike said.
The Mayor’s Annual Expo, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission’s Youth 2 Work program, seeks to place over 1,000 high school seniors, graduates, and local college and university students in front of potential employers. The event is free and offers a professional and organized environment for on-site interviews.
Prospective employees are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the diverse employment opportunities available.
