FILER TOWNSHIP, MI – This Up North golf course is reveling in the recent snowfall that blanketed the Lake Michigan coastline.
Manistee National Golf & Resort recently opened its more than 2 miles of snowshoe trails and is offering free snowshoe rentals on a first-come, first-served basis.
“They’re open for exploration anytime!” the resort said on Facebook.
Gear can be picked up at the front desk of The Inn, the onsite hotel that remains open through the winter. The trails begin at The Inn and run counter clockwise. There are three route options ranging from three-quarters of a mile to 2.25 miles.
Hotel reservations are available by phone. Amenities include an indoor pool and hot tub. The Inn’s restaurant, The Lounge, serves Detroit-style pizza and is a perfect spot to warm up after walking the trails, officials said.
The Lounge is open 4-11 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and noon to 11 p.m. on Sundays.

Manistee National, 4797 Grant Highway in Filer Township, offers 45 holes of golf, a hotel, cottages, wedding and event planning, outings and tournaments, a golf shop, two restaurants, a putting green, a driving range, indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, and more.
