Crowds join New York Liberty to celebrate WNBA championship win
The New York Liberty came out victorious in the WNBA championship against the Minnesota Lynx, celebrating their win in the New York streets.
The newest professional women’s basketball league is a few months away from tipping off, and we now know who will play for each team in the inaugural season.
Unrivaled released its team rosters on Wednesday, the next step in the league as it approaches its season opener in January. The 3-on-3 league played on a “compressed full court” has six teams of five players and promises to offer “the highest average salary” in women’s pro sports. Several of the WNBA’s top stars have committed to playing in the league, which will run from Jan. 17 until March 17, about two months before the WNBA season starts.
There are six teams in the league, and while the rosters are set, two squads each have one wild card spot open, meaning there are players who haven’t been announced as playing in the league. With so many of the world’s best playing, the teams are quite stacked. Here are the rosters for each team, as well as their head coach:
