Connor Cox, you are a Tar Heel!
On Wednesday, Cox announced that he has committed to Bill Belichick and the UNC football program. Cox will make his way to Chapel Hill with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Cox, a Jacksonville, Florida native, spent his first two collegiate seasons at South Carolina. As a Gamecock, the 6-foot-6, 251-pound tight end only recorded one catch, but it was one that resulted in a touchdown.
While his college numbers won’t jump out at you, Cox could benefit from a change of scenery. Especially given how the UNC football program has utilized its tight ends over recent memory, Cox could be a guy who could benefit from being inserted into the Tar Heels offense and could be a potential breakout candidate with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Given how this dude snubbed NC State during his transfer portal recruiting process, Tar Heel fans are going to love this guy.
Now, the UNC football program has earned three transfer portal commitments in the early Bill Belichick era. It’s pretty safe to say that more are on the way in the near future.
