ANDREWS, Texas – Chapin is El Paso’s lone remaining team in the UIL boys basketball playoffs.
Chapin competes in the Class 5A regional finals on Friday, Feb. 28, at Andrews High School.
Chapin plays in Division 1 and faces Birdville High at 3 p.m. MT/4 p.m. CT.
The Huskies are 35-1 and ranked No. 5 in the state by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Birdville is ranked No. 25 by the TABC and is 34-3.
The Huskies’ season ended with a 49-41 loss to the Hawks. Chapin’s season ended with a 35-2 record. Birdville advanced to the Final Four.
Chapin lost in the regional title game for the third straight year.

The Huskies played in the 2023 regional title game and lost to Mansfield Summit. Last year, the Huskies lost to Amarillo High in the regional finals.
The Huskies appeared focused and ready in the pre-game warmup. They defeated Denton High, 53-40, to reach today’s regional final.
The Huskies must contain the Hawks on the defensive end. Birdville scored 73 points in last playoff win vs. Wichita Falls Legacy.
Chapin’s guard play has been solid all year and if Jacob Garcia, Savion Jordan and Julian Pacheco play well, the Huskies will be in good shape to advance.
