Racing Victoria is being taken to court by the winning trainers of last year’s Melbourne Cup.
Queensland training duo Sheila Laxon and John Symons have launched a District Court claim against the horse racing body after their Cup prizemoney went missing.
In January it was revealed the trainers were yet to see a cent of their $464,000 despite the winning jockey and owners receiving theirs.

The trainers are owed about 10 per cent $4.4 million earned for Knight’s Choice winning the prestigious Cup.
While Racing Victoria did transfer the money, the bank account details the organisation had on file for the Laxon-Symons stable was reportedly out of date.

The trainers can’t access an old account, and Racing Victoria says it has attempted to rectify the awkward situation to no avail.
“We are not able to comment in any detail given that the matter is now the subject of proceedings,” Racing Victoria said in a statement sent to Wide World of Sports.
“However, note that RV has paid out all Melbourne Cup prizemoney as required, including to the bank account registered with us for Ms Laxon and Mr Symons’ trainer prizemoney payments in Victoria.
“We have taken the steps available to us to assist Ms Laxon and Mr Symons in recovering the money from what RV has subsequently been advised is their former account.”
The trainers are now taking the matter to court in an attempt to get their money.
The bank account in question is reportedly still active, but not able to be accessed by either Laxon or Symons, according to News Corp.
It is understood a person who does have access to the bank account has so far not transferred any money.
The ugly saga has put somewhat of a dampener on the Knight’s Choice fairytale.
The horse paid as much as $100 with bookmakers to win the iconic Flemington race in November, then stunned the country when it charged through the pack to win under a masterful steer from jockey Robbie Dolan.
