Two undefeated regular seasons highlight Week 9 high school football recap of top 10 area teams

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association football playoffs are just around the corner, as the regular season concluded this week for our area top 10 teams. Here is how Week 9 went for each of our top 10, including conference title stakes on the table for several teams. WIAA postseason brackets will be available Saturday.

1. Franklin (9-0)

Make it seven consecutive Southeast Conference titles for Franklin, as the Sabers defeated Racine Horlick, 42-21, on the road to lock up the title.

2. Slinger (9-0)

The Owls completed their undefeated regular season in runaway fashion, beating No. 8 Cedarburg 45-7 to secure the program’s first North Shore Conference title since joining the conference in 2017.

3. Arrowhead (7-2)

Arrowhead secured its share of the Classic 8 Conference title with a 38-17 home win over Kettle Moraine. The Warhawks had not won a conference title share since 2015.

4. Marquette (8-1)

The Hilltoppers edged past Mukwonago in a 42-35 road win to put a final stamp on the first season as the outright Greater Metro champion since 2018.

5. Mukwonago (7-2)

Mukwonago fell by a touchdown to Marquette in a matchup that will only hurt it in potential playoff seeding. Mukwonago had already clinched a Classic 8 title share due to crossover games with the Greater Metro not counting toward league title standings.

6. Homestead (7-2)

Homestead took care of business in its North Shore finale with a 42-0 win over West Bend West, but did not get the help needed from Cedarburg against Slinger to split the conference title.

7. Badger (8-1)

The Badgers had won the Southern Lakes outright for their third consecutive conference title going into Friday, but still took care of business for a sweep of the league in 2024 with a 35-7 win over Westosha Central.

8. Cedarburg (7-2)

The Bulldogs fell, 45-7, to Slinger at home with a chance to drop the Owls into a split of the North Shore title.

9. Grafton (9-1)

Grafton benefited from a forfeit over Messwood to secure an outright Woodland Conference title for its third consecutive season with at least a conference title share. The Black Hawks played Milwaukee Academy of Science in a nonconference postseason tune-up, defeating the Novas 42-28.
