Two-time defending Indianapolis 500 champion Josef Newgarden has signed with management agency Klutch Sports Group, which also represents NBA stars LaBron James, Darius Garland, Anthony Davis and Draymond Green along with WNBA star JuJu Waktins and several NFL and college football players.
Newgarden, 34, is the first motorsports driver to sign with Klutch Sports Group, which was founded in 2012 by Rich Paul.
The announcement came Friday before the first practice session for the NET IndyCar Series St. Petersburg Grand Prix. Klutch Sports Group posted a photo on social media of Newgarden along with his No. 2 Team Penske car and a welcome from the organization.
Other Klutch Sports Group clients include Lonzo Ball of the Chicago Bulls, Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers along with NFL stars Odell Beckham Jr., DeAndre Hopkins, Myles Garrett, Dez Fitzpatrick and Jalen Hurts.
Newgarden, who lives in Nashville, won the Indy 500 in 2023 and 2024. He enters the 2025 IndyCar Series season as one of the most recognizable stars in the sport. Newgarden was featured in a Super Bowl commercial with former NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
This will be Newgarden’s 14th IndyCar season. He is in his ninth season with Team Penske. Newgarden hopes to make history this season by becoming the fist driver to win the Indy 500 three consecutive times.
Newgarden was named The Tennessean Sports Person of the Year in 2023 after winning his first Indianapolis 500.
