“Hi everyone,” Kvitova said in an Instagram video. “I hope you all had a great start to 2025 so far. I’m here to tell you some exciting news.

“After 15 months being away from tennis and having my baby boy Petr, I’m coming back to the tennis circuit.

“I really miss tennis and miss competing, so I am really looking forward to being back. I’m planning to play end of this month a tournament in Austin, Indian Wells and Miami.

“I can’t wait to see all my fans, all around the world. Thank you very much for supporting me. It will be a nice journey, and I can’t wait. Have a great day, bye, see you soon.”

What has Petra Kvitova achieved in her career ahead of ATX Open in Texas?

Kvitova is set for a highly-anticipated return at the age of 34, with 2011 and 2014 Wimbledon wins among her stunning 31 WTA Tour-level titles record.

Those victories came against Maria Sharapova and Eugenie Bouchard respectively, while she also lost the 2019 Australian Open final to Naomi Osaka.

The Czech ace reached world number two back in 2011, but is currently unranked ahead of her return at the ATX Open, having last played at the 2023 China Open.

A 2011 WTA Finals champion, she fittingly won in Miami in that most recent season on the tour, as well as emerging victorious in Berlin.

Kvitova will now return for the WTA 250 event in Texas later this month, followed by the WTA 1,000 tournaments at Indian Wells and Miami in March.
