Two Central Jersey golf courses have been named among the the top three public golf courses in New Jersey.
Heron Glen, owned by Hunterdon County, topped the list compiled by GolfPass in the next edition of its Golfers Choice 2025.
Neshanic Valley, owned by Somerset County, was ranked third in the state.
The other Central Jersey courses in the top 20 are the new Old Bridge Golf Course at seventh place and Rutgers Golf Course at 12th.
Heron Glen, on Route 202 in Raritan Township, received a five-star rating.
One reviewer wrote, “Between the range, practice putting green and the course everything is as best shape as it could be kept for a public course … shoutout Brandon in the pro shop as well … just such a good dude as well as the entire rest of the staff ! I truly really love coming here and I’m happy I gave this track a go!”
Neshanic Valley, on South Branch Road in Branchburg, also received a five-star rating. One reviewer, singling out the course’s Academy layout, said, “Great course. The staff are great. The course is beautiful and maintained excellently.”
Unlike golf course rankings published by insiders who have access to golf courses the public may never have the opportunity to play, the Golfers’ Choice lists are totally consumer driven – by recreational golfers, for recreational golfers, according to GolfPass.
Ages, handicaps and budgets of golfers using the GolfPass website run the gamut, so the 2.5 million reviews in total accumulated by GolfPass and GolfNow showcase the golf courses that are considered the best by avid golfers.
