Turfway Park has moved its Wednesday racing card to Sunday because of extreme cold temperatures. The National Weather Service forecast for Florence, Ky., called for wind-chill factors as low as 33 degrees below zero during the day Wednesday, hovering around 15 degrees Wednesday night.
The program will not be redrawn and will run in its entirety on Sunday, with first post at 12:30 p.m. EST. Racing is scheduled to resume Thursday with a first post of 5:55 p.m., when the high temperature is forecast at 31 degrees, with a slight chance of snow.
Turfway Park joins other tracks that canceled racing because of cold or snow. Delta Downs canceled its Wednesday card with a blizzard warning in effect for Tuesday. Fair Grounds moved its Thursday card to Monday amid extreme cold and winter storm warnings.
And Parx canceled its Monday card because of cold temperatures.
